Introduction to Destructive and Nondestructive Examination $199

ICC PREFERRED PROVIDER COURSE # 19028 6 HOURS/0.6 CEU

Many of those involved in the welding industry will be exposed to destructive and nondestructive testing at some point in their career. Wouldn’t it be great if you understood what the technician is talking about? What does CVN mean? What is shearwave? Why can’t we do MT on aluminum? What do you mean I shouldn’t try to radiograph a T-joint? In this 6hr course we will discuss the basics of Destructive and Nondestructive Examination methods and how they are used in the construction industry.

Some of the testing methods we will cover are:

Macro etching
Tensile Testing
Fracture Toughness Tests
Radiography
Ultrasonics
Liquid Penetrant

Aside from the various methods we will discuss, we will also go over the common NDT certification schemes used in the United States. NDT qualifications are typically governed by one’s employer with guidelines established by the American Society of Nondestructive Testing, but it’s not that simple. Over the years, the process to become a qualified NDT technician has become very complicated. We will cover certification schemes in a step-by-step method to ensure understanding. This course is part of Modules 6&7 of AINDT’s CWI Fundamental Training.

Welding Defects & Discontinuities $99

ICC PREFERRED PROVIDER COURSE # 19027 3 HOURS/0.3 CEU

Welding Defects & Discontinuities will showcase the various welding defects that an inspector needs to be able to identify and evaluate to different codes and standards. Additionally, we will discuss common welding gauges used to measure these discontinuities as well as common code requirements.

A sample of discontinuities discussed are:

Excessive Reinforcement
Overlap
Undercut
Incomplete Fusion
Centerline Cracking
Hydrogen Cracking
Lamellar Tearing

It is fundamental for inspectors, engineers and welders alike to be capable of identifying, evaluating and determining acceptability of the various types of welding discontinuities. It is also paramount that we understand the correct terminology for discontinuities. Communication is key in construction and without it, production can grind to a halt. This course is Module 6 of AINDT’s CWI Fundamental Training.

Introduction to Visual Welding Inspection $99

ICC PREFERRED PROVIDER COURSE # 19026 3 HOURS/0.3 CEU

AINDT’s Introduction to Visual Welding Inspection is a 3hr short course which will guide you through the required tasks welding inspectors will need to know when conduction inspections.

This course will discuss:

General Code Overview
Visual Inspector Certification Schemes
Standard Inspection Equipment
Welding Inspection Tasks
QA/QC Tips

Visual Inspection entails many more elements than just looking at welds. We will discuss the various items inspectors must be cognizant of how these inspections must take place. We will also discuss various inspection tools and gauges that all welding inspectors should have a thorough knowledge of.

Introduction to Welding Procedures & Welder Qualifications $99

ICC PREFERRED PROVIDER COURSE #19025 3 HOURS/0.3 CEU

What is a WPS? What is a PQR? Which one comes first? Are we qualifying a WPS or a PQR? This 3hr short course will explain the reasons behind Welding Procedures Specifications and explain why each welding code has different rules for qualification. We will explain what a Procedure Qualification Record is and how it is used in conjunction with a Welding Procedure Specification. Additionally, we will discuss Welder Qualifications, how to conduct them and how they are different from Welding Procedures.

This short course is part of Module 6 of AINDT’s CWI Fundamentals Training.

Introduction to Welding Metallurgy $199

ICC PREFERRED PROVIDER COURSE # 19024 6 HOURS/0.6 CEU

Sometimes the rules laid forth in welding codes either don’t seem very important or make much sense. Why do we preheat? Why are there exposure rules for low-hydrogen electrodes? Why do we have to wait until the weld cools to inspect? These are all very good questions, and the answer is, metallurgy.

This 6hr course will review several topics including:

Steel Making
Welding Metallurgy
Distortion Control
Property Modification

Metallurgy is a difficult subject to understand. We try to break the knowledge down to help comprehend the complexities that is involved with welding metallurgy. Become familiar with what Alloys are, how to calculate carbon equivalency, and why we care. Understand why we care about heat input and what effects it has on the welded joint. Ensure you are up to speed on hydrogen embrittlement and how to prevent it. Introduction to Welding Metallurgy is Module 5 of AINDT’s CWI Welding Fundamentals Training.

Welding Symbols Fundamentals $99

ICC PREFERRED PROVIDER COURSE # 19023 3 HOURS/0.3 CEU

Welding Symbols can confuse even the most senior welding inspector. This 3-hour short course will provide you all the knowledge needed for becoming proficient at welding symbology.

Based on AWS 2.4 Standard Symbols for Welding, Brazing and Nondestructive Examination. This training course will cover the how to read and create welding symbols. Don’t be confused by the bizarre hieroglyphic nature of welding symbols. We will show you in a step-by-step process how to become an expert in symbol interpretation. Double J PJP groove weld with a 3/8” throat and a 5/16” bevel prep, how do you draw this out in symbolic form? We will show you. Welders, Engineers, and Inspectors will benefit greatly from becoming proficient at reading welding symbols by taking AINDT’s Welding Symbol Fundamentals training course.

Module 4 of the AINDT CWI Fundamentals Training.

Understanding Welding Joint Geometry $99

ICC PREFERRED PROVIDER COURSE #19022 3 HOURS/0.3 CEU

Whether you are a welding inspector, building official or engineer this course will help familiarize you with the complexities of welded connections.

Single V, Double V, Flare Bevel, CJP, PJP, Backing Weld or Groove Face. These are all terms that anyone associated with the welding industry should know like the back of their hand. If not, then this course will teach you. Welding terminology and the variety of welded connections can be very confusing, not only those who are not involved in the welding industry, but also those who may have gotten a tad rusty and could use a refresher. Be sure you understand the intricacies of welded connections by enveloping yourself in our weld joint geometry short course.

Module 3 of AINDTs CWI Fundamentals Training.

Fundamentals Welding Processes $199

ICC PREFERRED PROVIDER COURSE #19021 6 HOURS/0.6 CEU
